Mc Master & Son, Dublin, No. 3674, circa 1860. Good, decidedly rare, Irish wooden-cased, eight day going, carriage clock striking hours and halves and repeating hours on a gong lever escapement.

C. Rosewood, glazed four sides and top, front door with inner gilt frame, dentil top moulding, ornate gilt brass handle, repeat button. D. Giltbrass, centre and corners engraved flowers and foliage, Roman chapters, blued steel "Breguet" hands. M. Brass rectangular, fusees and chains to both trains, maintaining power on going side, extra-large platform lever escapement, singleroller, pointed-tooth wheel, cut bi-metallic balance, flat balance spring, side control lever for loud or soft striking. Signed on dial and movement. In good condition. Dim. 22.75 x 15.5 x 13.5 cm. excluding handle.

McMASTER & Son was working in Grafton Street, Dublin from about 1820 onwards. As McMaster & Son the firm continued active into the 1860's.
