French, Royal Exchange, London, un-numbered, 3rd quarter 19th Century. Highly unusual, eight day going, portable, decorative striking, calendar, chronometer mantelclock, formerly in the possession of a member of the Spanish Royal Family.

C. Gilt cast-brass, decorated all over in high baroque relief and with applied figures of putti, mermaids, mermen, dolphins and fish. Glazed four sides and top, ornate carrying handle. D. Brass, silvered and engraved in centre and spandrels, Roman chapters, " fleur de lys" hands, simple calendar showing day of week and date of month. M. Brass rectangular, fusee and chain, maintaining power, Earnshaw-type springdetent escapement, cut bimetallic balance, helical spring, diamond endstone to balance cock, strike/silent. Signed on dial and movement. In good conditon (one dolphin a replacement). Dim. 24.5 x 18 x 16.5 cm.
