Peter Chapeau, London, No. 1190, with London hallmarks for 1746. Very fine small silver triple case, quarter repeating coach watch with early cylinder escapement. Original crank key.
C. Outer double body, silver mounted and shagreen covered. Second double body, the bezel pierced with foliage and repoussé with rocaille decoration, the back repoussé with an allegorical scene and rocaille decoration, the border pierced and engraved with foliage. The haler double body, bassine marked "A. F." (Abraham Ferron), pierced and engraved with an angel's head and inhabited foliage. D. Silver champlevé with Roman numerals and outer Arabie minute ring. Blued steel elaborate blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with turned pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-ann balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with a mask and foliage, diamond endstone. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant, the repeating train with gilt brass fixed barrel engraved with decoration. Gild brass dust-cap. Signed on the dial, gilt brass dust-cap and back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 79 mm.
