Universal, Genève, circa 1930. Rare, nickel plated, keyless watch with a very unusual anti-clockwise "nautique", chronograph specially designed for timing minutes and seconds remaining before the official boat-race starting.

C. Three body, massive, "bassine", polished. Nickel plated cuvette. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer red Arabic four minute chronograph ring (hair liner). Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 19"', gilt brass, three quarter plate, calibre No. 296.8, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed on the dial and movement. In very good condition. Diam. 51 mm.

During regatta, the start is given once the boat is already in motion. This watch was specially devised to enable the timing of the exact number of minutes and seconds remaining before the official start.
