C. Three body, Empire with reeded band, the back engine-turned in a sun-burst pattern. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. D. Gold with Breguet numerals on a champleve chapter ring and engraved with a fisherman, a maiden on the back ground. Blued steel "Scotties" hands. M. GiIt brass with free standing barrel, cylinder escapement with plain brass three-arm balance and flat balance spring. Cylinder musical train playing on the hour or at will, with 20 tooth comb grouped in pairs and covered by a gold panel finely pierced and engraved with scrolls of foliage. Quarter-repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant. In very good condition. Diam. 59 mm.

Notes

Chaponnière was reputed in Geneva in the early years of the XlXth century for the quality of the musical watches made in his workshop. He was apparently specialised in the production of musical watches with pin cylinder mechanisms.
