Not signed (Jaquet-Droz?), Swiss, made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. Very fine 18 ct. gold and enamel pair cased, centre seconds watch.

C. Outer double body, glazed, polished. Inner, three body, Directoire, bezels and pendant with paillone decoration (slightly restored), the back enamelled with a very fine painted wedding scene. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Gold Breguet hands. M. GiIt brass, drawn from the Lepine caliber with free standing barrel, the bridges engraved with foliage, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance with flat balance spring. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.

By its style, the decoration of the case and the calibre used for the movement, this watch is very similar to those made at the same period by Jaquet- Droz for the Chinese market and was certainely produced in Switzerland by the workshop of this celebrated maker.
