Manceau (?) à Lyon, circa 1640. Rare gilt-brass, silver and rock-crystal "crucifix" watch with a contemporary movement.
C. Three body, the gilt brass bezels engraved with hatched patterns, facetted rock-crystal back and cover, the silver band engraved with scrolled foliage, loose-ring pendant and button finials. D. Silver champleve with Roman hour numerals and half hour divisions. Single blued steel balluster pattern hand. M. Contemporary shaped gilt-brass full plate with turned urn pillars, fusee with gut-line, short train, verge escapement, plain two-arm steel balance without spring. Irregular oval florally pierced and engraved silver cock secured by a pin the gilt brass ratchet-wheel set-up cock with similar decoration. Signed on the back plate (partly rubbed). In working order. Dim. 62 x 35 mm.
