Not signed, French, circa 1800. Unique experimental centre seconds watch with pin-wheel lever escapement.

C. Later gilt brass, glazed on both faces. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Brass, unusual calibre with free standing barrel, counterpoised pin-wheel lever escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. In very good condition. Diam 55 mm

Previously in the Grenaud collection, this watch is described in several book as a good example of an attempt to apply to a watch, the pin-wheel escapement, as invented by Amant and improved by Lepaute.
