Robert et Courvoisier, (Swiss), No. 79905, circa 1810. Fine 18 ct. gold and enamel quarter repeating watch with special escapement and an automaton scene depicting "The forge of Venus".
C. Double body, Directoire, polished, the band pierced and engraved with foliage decoration. D. Small eccentric white enamel with Breguet numerals, gold hands. Gold dial plate with a floral champleve and remouloye decoration over a black ground, and above the dial a Swiss enamel landscape with an applied vary-coloured gold automaton scene depicting two Cupids forging the weapons of Venus. GiIt brass dust-cap. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, virgule escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. The automaton scene is driven by an independent train with going barrel and slide on the band. Signed on the dial, dust cap and back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 56 mm.
