Notes

This type of carved ivory decoration is also to be found on watches made by Jaquet Droz for the Chines market. The quality and precision of the ivory scene on the back of this watch is amazing and could be compared with the best ivory work made in China. Such miniature scenes were sometime also made with microscopic natural pearls.
