Arlaud, (Geneva), circa 1650. Very fine and rare giit brass and enamel watch.

C. Two body, bassine with split bezel and flat section loose-ring pendant the back entirely decorated on the exterior with turquoise blue enamel, the front edge of the band with black and white formai motifs, the back centred with a black and white rosette the interior in matching turquoise enamel. D. White enamel chapter ring with Roman numerals and half hour divisions, the centre of turquoise blue enamel to match the case. Single blued steel tulip hand. M. hinged gilt brass full plate, the front plate with four locating lugs and engraved dial edge, pierced Egyptian pillars, extra flat and large barrel with fusee and gut-line, short train, verge escapement, plain steel balance without spring, finely pierced and florally engraved balance cock secured by a screw, the ratchet and wheel set-up regulator matching with blued-steel ratchet wheel and spring. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 43 mm.

Arlaud Abraham I (1627-1686). Son of Antoine. Went to Constantinople in 1647 and made watches for the Turkish market, he took Daniel Dornieu as "Compagnon". He had three pupils: Jean Duboule in 1663, Jean Duc in 1669 and Jean-Pierre Bourget in 1676.
