J. W. Benson, French, made for the English market, circa 1890. Fine and rare giit brass, "grande and petite sonnerie", quarter repeating, eight day going giant carriage clock with porcelain panels.

C. GiIt bronze, "gorge", entirely engraved with a floral and palmet decoration. Side porcelain panels painted with young loving couples within blue and gilt frames. D. Porcelain panel, a sitting maiden in a landscape, painted at the base, the chapter ring with Roman numerals. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. Eight day going double train movement with going barrels. Large engine-turned silvered platform escapement, lateral lever escapement, uncut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring. Striking and repeating a gong with button at the top, " grande/petite sonnerie", strike/silent optional lever in the base. In very good condition. Dim. 22 x 13,5 x 10 cm.
