Fine gilt brass, eight-day going, quarter-repeating "grande et petite sonnerie" quarter repeating carriage clock with alarm, presented by Alphonse XIII, King of Spain, to Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, the most celebrated Spanish Impressioniste painter, in original travelling fitted box set with a gilt brass medaillon chased with the coat of arms of the Spanish Royal Family in a silver frame engraved: "Soy de Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida".

C. Gilt brass, "Gorge", glazed on five faces. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring, subsidiary dials, for alarm setting, days of the week and dates. Blued-steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass engine-turned dial-plate engraved: " Soy de Joaquin Sorollay Bastida". M. Brass, rectangularwith going barrels both on the going and the striking train, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, blued-steel flat balance spring. Striking repeating and alarm on gongs with button on the top and grande sonnerie/petite sonnerie/silent optional lever in the base. In very good condition. Dim. 14 x 9,5 x 8,5 cm. excluding the handle.
