C. Double body mahogany with brass bowl and gimbals. D. Silvered and lacquered with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and 4 day up-anddown scale. Polished steel Breguet hands. M. Brass, three quarter plate, cylindrical pillars secured by screws, inverted fusee with chain and maintaining power, circular detachable platform escapement with all the bridges and potence made of red gold, pivoted detent escapement, two-arm compensated balance with poising weights and timing screws, diamond end-piece, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dial diam. 110 mm. Dimensions: 18 x 19 x 18 cm.

Notes

This most unusual marine chronometer was made by a very fine maker, relative to the eminent Robert Robin. He was known to be somewhat eccentric for he had cut-off both the small finger of each of his hands in order to facilitate operations at his bench.
