Not signed, Swiss, circa 1800. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, quarter repeating watch with five automatons.

C. Double body, Directoire, polished. D. Small eccentric white enamel with Breguet numerals. Gold "spade" hands. The black enamelled dial plate with diamond inlaid foliage decoration (slightly restored on the border of the winding hole) is applied with a varycouloured chased automaton scene, driven by the repeating train, depicting a yong girl pushed by a young boy, swinging on an escarpolette, in front of a fountain from which the water (simulated by a twisted glass rod) flows. Above the scene, two Cupids strike hours and quarters on two bells. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. In very good condition. Diam. 59 mm.
