Anonymous, Swiss, circa 1890. Very fine and rare gold, enamel and gem-set form watch designed as a wild rose suspended from a matching jewelled and enamelled chatelaine.

C. Four part, the body chased and engraved in two colour part matt, part polished gold, the back applied with a stem, the cover centred with an exotic butterfly in gold with the wings decorated in scarlet, black and blue champleve enamel set with rose diamonds, the thorax ruby enamelled and engraved on the interior. Chatelaine gold clip with applied branch set with two colour gold leaves and diamond flowers entwined with a serpent, the body decorated with mottled blue-black enamel panels partially set with rose diarnonds and red dots, with ruby eyes and diamond crest. (Bearing Russian and other marks). D. Small white enamel with Roman hour numerals. Blued-steel hands. M. 11" frosted and gilt keyless bar pattern, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain balance with flat spring. Very good condition. Dim. 32mm. diam. watch, 95mm. overall
