Henri Motel No. 123, circa 1840, restored and improved by Vissière. Rare and fine marine chronometer, with power reserve indication added by Vissiere.

C. Three body mahogany box with glazed upper section and hinged lid. Brass gimballs with a ladded bowl lined with velvet. Brass case en forme de tabatière, similar to that used by Louis Berthoud for his later chronometer, the winding hole on the bezel, covered by a slide. D. Silvered with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and 24 hour up-and-down sector. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Brass, Motel caliber, fully jeweled. Fusee with chain, maintaining power, Louis Berthoud type pivoted detent escapement, two arme compensation balance, by Visière with two cylindrical weights and timing screws, helical palladium balance spring with terminal curves. As on virtually all the Motel chronometers, it is wound from the bezel by me Signed on the dial and the movement. In very good condition. Dial diam. 80 mm.

The inscription on the dial: "Modifié et réglé par Vissière", refers to the addition of the power reserve indication and the improvement with a new balance and balance spring. Vissière, working in Le Havre, was in France, among the best chronometer makers on the second half of XlXth century.
