Anonymous, Viennese, third quarter 19th century. Impressive silver gilt and enamel clock set, comprising a tower clock and a pair of cornucopia horns.

C. Pentagonal clock case with molded silver gilt plinth richly applied with enamelled masks, grotesque beasts and scroll work, each corner with applied dwarf figure and claw foot, side panels inset with large polychrome enamelled panels depicting mythological scenes, the corner columns surmounted by figures of Father Time, the upper section in the form of a gothic steeple, of octagonal tapering design, each facet with a niche in which stands a centurian figure flanked by dolphins with stone set and enamelled panel above terminating in a grotesque mask attached by an enamelled cord to a cherub with Pixie figure finial holding a sheild bearing a spread eagle. D. Silver engraved and enamelled with Roman hour numerals on white plaques. GiIt metal hands. M. Keywind Geneva bar caliber with cylinder escapement. The pair of horns entirely enamelled with mythological scenes bordered by grisaille scroll work and masks and set with bands enamelled to simulate precious stones, supported on a kneeling silver figure of Hercules with hexagonal tappering base decorated in matching style, the apicii mounted with angel figures, the interior underside also enamelled en grisaille with leaf work. Second vase of matching style but with the grissaille painting on a blue ground. In good condition. Dims. 32cm. height of clock, 38cm. height of horns.
