Anonymous, German, circa 1730. Interesting and early oval silver snuff box containing a purpose built verge watch.

C. Three part oval silver snuff box with slightly domed lid with applied portrait bust of a lady, opening to reveal the watch, the snuff compartment concealed in the base. D. Silver champleve, Roman hour numerals, Arabic 5 minute numerals and hait hour marks. Pierced gilt hands. M. Oval gilt brass plate the sub plate for the wheels with unpierced tulip pattern pillars, fixed barrel, verge escapement with offset crown wheel enabling the escapement to be offset above 12 o'clock with applied scroll engraved balance cock, plain balance with flat spring without regulator, surround with applied oval silver portrait busts and set with two garnets. In good condition. Dims. 85 x 57mm.
