Rectangular, on four gilt bronze block feet with further gilt-metal acanthus foliage and egg-anddart mouldings surrounding the base, pediment and the four glazed sides, the top observation window with plain brass frame, the hinged front door with foliage spandrels, pendant drapery below and pearled bezel. D. White enamel by Dubuisson with Roman numerals, outer year calendar ring with the signs of the Zodiac finely painted on individuel cartouches. divided by small rosettes. Blued-steel "star" and "arrow" hands for the mean time, and gilt brass, pierced with entrelacs for the solar minutes. M. Brass rectangular with two going-barrels, 75 second remontoir with fly regulator rewinding the driving weight. Graham dead-beat escapement with half-seconds beating grid-iron pendulum with knife- edge suspension. Signed on the dial and the back plate. In very good condition. Dim. 47 x 26 x 21 mm.

Notes

Mantel regulator made by Robin are always extremely fine, even more so when they are with remontoir, equation of time and annual calendar. The dial, with the signs of the Zodiac painted in colour with paillonne decoration, can be compared with the finest dials made by Cotteau. Dubuisson was with Cotteau the best enameller of the end of the XVIIIth century, he worked for Robert Robin, Breguet, Louis Berthoud, and Antide Janvier.
