Bagillos à Riom, circa 1810. Very fine, gilt and black lacquered bronze hour and half hour striking, "pendule au nègre", after a washed design, preserved in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.

Oval gilt bronze base on four bun feet with applied mounts designed as a monkey swinging between palet trees flanked by parrots feeding from pendant baskets and supporting a well modelled figure of a negro carrying a bale of cotton, a letter in his right hand and a cane in his left. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Gilt brass arrow hands. M. Brass circular with going barrels for both the going and the striking train, anchor escapement, short pendulum with silk suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the back plate. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 35 x 26 x 9 cm.
