Charles Oudin, Horloger de la Marine de l'Etat, 52, Palais Royal, Paris, circa 1880. Very fine, gilt bronze, eight-day going, quarterrepeating "grande and petite sonnerie" carriage clock with subsidiary seconds, alarm and dual calendar, in original fitted travelling box.
C. Gilt brass, "Gorge", glazed on five sides, the top glass engraved with a monogram and a Count's crown. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring and inner eccentric subsidiary seconds, subsidiary dials for alarm setting, days of the week and date. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. Brass, rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, platform escapement with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring. Striking repeating and alarm on two gongs with button on the top and grande sonnerie/petite sonnerie/silent optional lever on the base Signed on the dial and the sides of the plates. In very good condition. Dim. 14 x 9 x 8 cm. excluding the handle.
