De La Fosse à Paris, circa 1850. Rare and important glazed gilt bronze hour and quarter striking, astronomical, centre-seconds, mantle regulator with triple calendar and orrery.

C. Rectangular, moulded gilt bronze, glazed on four sides, the orrery on the top, within a crystal globe set with a blue lacquered ring applied with gilt bronze Zodiac symbols. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer red Arabic date ring and inner days of the week indication marked in red with their corresponding planetary symbols. Gilt brass pierced "fleur-de-lys" hands. M. Circular brass full plate, double train, with cylindrical pillars and going barrels for both the going and the striking trains. Pin-wheel escapement set on the back plate, half-seconds beating grid-iron pendulum with knife edge suspension. Striking on two bells with count wheel on the back plate. Driven by the striking train, the orrery with a gilt sun and revolving inner ivory planets of Mercury and Venus, the Earth with coloured paper gores, revolving on its own tilted axis, the Moon in the form of half blackened ivory sphere, geared for its diurnal and monthly rotation, and further compensated for its declination. Silver and engraved year calendar ring marked by a blued- steel pointer carried by the earth assembly. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dim. 75 x 29 x 19 mm.
