Anonymous, French provincial, early XIXth century. Unusual gilt brass, eight-day going, quarterrepeating "grande and petite sonnerie" travelling clock with alarm, date and special escapement, in original walnut fitted box and with original key.

C. Rectangular with glazed side panels, chased bezel and folding handle. D. Contemporary white enamel with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring and red inner date indication ( hair cracks). Gilt brass Louis XV hands. M. Rectangular v vith going barrels on both the going and the striking trains, fictional rest escapement drawn from that invented by Sully with a single escape wheel and double pallet on the balance staff, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. Striking and repeating on two bells with "silent/petite/grande sonnerie" optional lever below the dial. Alarm train with fixed barrel. In very good condition. Dim. 140 x 108 x 73 mm.
