Du Hamel à Paris, circa 1660. Very fine and early silver pair cased hour striking coach-watch.
C. Inner: Double body, bassine with split bezel and loose-ring pendant, the band pierced and engraved with a mask and inhabited foliage, the back centred with a rosette. Outer: leather covered protecting case, the bezels pierced with silver roundels, the back centred with a silver pinwork rosette. D. Silver champleve with Roman numerals. Fine elongated blued-steel hand. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with urn pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel two-arm balance without spring, gilt brass irregular cock pierced and engraved with strawberry flowers, ratchet wheel set-up with matching gilt brass click and blued-steel spring, striking train with florally pierced fixed barrel and engraved silver count wheel on the back plate(replaced). Striking and alarm on a bell. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 97 mm.
