Anonymous, French, circa 1890. Very fine and rare oval gilt bronze "grande and petite sonnerie", quarter-repeating carriage clock with alarm and dual calendar, in original fitted travelling box.

C. Gilt bronze, "oval", glazed on five faces. D. White enamel with Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for alarm setting, days of the week and date. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. Brass, eight-day with going barrels both on the going and the striking trains, platform escapement with straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, blued-steel Breguet balance spring. Striking repeating and alarm on gongs with button on the top, grande and petite sonnerie/silent, optional lever in the base.. In very good condition. Dim. 14 x 12 x 10 cm., excluding the handle.
