Anonymous, French, circa 1890. Very fine and rare oval gilt bronze and porcelain, hour and half hour striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm.

C. Gilt bronze, "oval", glazed on the top, with porcelain panels painted with Romantic scenes within gilt frames, over a blue ground. D. Porcelain with a decoration matching that of the panels, chapter ring with Roman numerals, the centre painted with two Cupids, subsidiary small alarm setting dial. Gold "spade" hands. M. Brass, eight-day with going barrels both on the going and the striking train, platform escapement with lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, blued-steel flat balance spring. Striking repeating and alarm on a gong with button on the top. In very good condition. Dim. 9,5 x 7 x 6,5 cm., excluding the handle.
