Outer double body, pierced with inhabited foliage and engraved with four small half-length portraits, the back with a framed blank cartouche. haler double body bassine, the band pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage. D. Silver champleve with Roman numerals and inner revolving Arabic alarm setting disc. Blued steel alarm-setting hand and hour pointer. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with square baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three arm-balance, flat balance spring, English style gilt brass cock with garnet end-stone, the elaborate regulator cock with matching decoration. Steel alarm train with plain barrel and striking on a bell.Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 55 mm.

Probably Daniel Pillon, noted as working in Paris in 1730. Although strictly not an oignon, this watch retains characteristics, notably in the dial, that hark back to the earliest balance spring period.
