Anonymous (Fleurier, Val de Travers), Swiss, made for the Chinese market, circa 1840. Fine and extremely rare silver gilt and enamel, pair of quarter repeating pearls-set watches with independent dead center seconds, in a later velvet lined fitted box, with a matching gold and enamel key.
C. Four body, Empire, with split-pearl set bezels, pendants and bows, reeded bands, the backs with very fine symetrical bunches of flowers, painted in their natural colours, against a light blue enamel ground. Glazed cuvettes. D. White enamel with Roman numerals. Blued steel "spatula" hands. M. Fine and unusual 22-, gilt brass, double trains, fully engraved in the manner of Guillaumin, 19 jewels, lateral levers escapements, polished steel three arm balances with blued steel ornaments, flat balance springs. Repeating on gongs with slides in the bands. In very good condition. Diam. 61 mm.
