Notes

One of the most celebrated enamel painter of the end of the XlXth century, Amédée Champod was specialised on portraits of important personalities from the eastern countries, but also from Europe (he made the portrait of the Pope Pie IX), he also painted fine landscapes and hunting scenes for the Chinese and the Indian market. He was working for Bovet, Vaucher, Vrard, Courvoisier Frères etc. His technique was outstanding and his portraits could now days be compared with the most accurate coloured pictures.
