"Pin-Wheel Escapement" Neuchâtel area. Made circa 1820. Very fine, rare and elegant, birchwood, eight-day going, weight-driven wall clock with dead centre seconds, pin-wheel escapement and grid-iron pendulum.

C. Finely birchwood veneered case with waisted sides, drum head and base with glazed lenticle, moulded finials, featherbanded edges, glazed trunk door secured by six wooden pegs, machined gilt brass bezel. D. Circular off-white stove enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds track and Arabic five minute/seconds numerals. Blued steel hands with finely pierced and chased gilt tips and terminals. M. Iron posted "birdcage" type, brass wheel train, maintaining power, pinwheel escapement, 9-rod steel and brass grid-iron pendulum with large circular brass bob, regulation nut. Dim. 157 x 38 x 12 cm.
