Dent, London, Chronometer Maker to the Queen, No. 1847, circa 1840. Fine 8 day going marine chronometer with power reserve indication.

C. Three body ebonised box with sunk brass handles and mountings, glazed upper section with hinged lid. Brass bowl and gimballed suspension. D. Silvered with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and Up-and- Down scale. M. Brass polished three quarter plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with maintaining power, the Earnshaw type spring detent escapement set in a smaller circular cage, two armed bimetallic compensation balance with cylindrical weights and timing screws, diamond end-stone, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Dial diam. 118 mm. Dim. 18 x 18 x 18 cm.
