Anonymous, Swiss, made for the Turkish market, circa 1860. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel hunting cased watch with a concealed enamelled erotic scene.

Five body, "forme quatre baguettes", engineturned, the back with a secret compartment for a finely enamelled erotic scene depicting an activity that is unusual for this genre d'oeuvre, although probably quite common (in the sense of often rather than base) in the real world; such a view will depend on the eye of the beholder, and indeed the eyes of the beholden are worthy of examination, giving an adequate indication of the regard in which the participants hold said activity, and in one case themselves. D. White enamel with Turkish numerals and sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 17"', gilt brass, bar calibre with going barrel, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain brass three arm balance, flat balance spring. In very good condition. Diam. 48 mm.
