J. Mussard pinxit,(Geneva), circa 1700. Very fine gold and enamel watch case with a Iater movement by Geo. Richards, London, No. 16011.

C. Double body, bassine with Iater gold split bezel, the back finely painted in the manner of Huaud, with a scene depicting "Jupiter en pluie d'or", continuous landscape on the border. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. GiIt brass Louis XV hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass English cock. Signed on the back plate. Mussard signature beneath the pendant and cartouche with the title of the scene. In very good condition. Diam. 42 mm.

Mussard Jean V. (1681-1754), son of Jean IV. Master on 7 December 1699. Well-known painter on enamel, was working in the manner of the Huaud brothers. Took his own son as partner. He had three pupils: Gabriel Fontaine, André Oettener, and Germain Colladon.
