Charles Mairet (Swiss), No. 228, circa 1810. Fine and rare 18 ct. gold, dead centre seconds watch with special calibre and special escapement.

B. Three body Empire, with reeded band and polished back. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Unusual blued steel and gold " trefle" hands. M. GiIt brass, very unusual calibre with small going barrel, Pouzait type lever escapement with large gold plain five arm balance and flat balance spring. Signed on the dial and cuvette. In very good condition. Diam. 62 mm.

In this watch, all the functions of the escapement are clearly exposed, which is not the case with most of Pouzait lever escapements, usually set between the plates of full plate movements.
