Mermod, Jaccard & Co. Saint Louis, No. 26117, Swiss, circa 1910. Fine 18 ct. gold hunting cased, Keyless, minute repeating watch, with a dedication to "Sammy Davis Jr. Trops Super Star".

C. Four body, massive, "demi-bassine", polished, the cover engraved with the dedication. Gold cuvette. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer red Arabic minute ring and sunk subsidiary seconds. Gold Louis XV hands. M. 17-, rhodium plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 30 jewels, straight line lever escapement, adjusted cut bimetallic balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with swan neck micrometric index. Repeating on gongs with slide in the band. Signed on the dial and movement. In good condition. Diam. 47mm.

Sammy Davis Junior, born 8.12.1925 in New York City, singer, dancer and actor. He joined the family Vaudeville troupe which during the Depression was reduced to a trio, his father, Mastin - Sammy's adopted uncle and himself, having been coached by the legendary tapdancer Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. He rejoined the Trio after spending two years service in the US Army 1943-45 and triumphed in dancing, singing and impressions, which Ied them to club and theatre bookings along with Bob Hope, Jack Benny and Frank Sinatra. In 1954 he signed with Decca and Iater that year was involved in a car crash which resulted in the loss of an eye. He went on to make numerous LP's including " Here's looking at you", "What kind of Fool am I" and " That old Black Magic", starring in films with Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra and also in numerous stage musicals.
