Anonymous, attributed to Piguet & Meylan, Geneva, Circa 1820. Very fine gold, enamel and pearl-set 8-day going and quarter-repeating centre-seconds watch, made for the Chinese Market

C. Four-body, the band decorated with oval vignettes of summer flowers on an opalescent pink ground surrounded by graduated split-pearls (one repaired), with alternate panels of red and blue enamel motifs. Split-pearl bezels, the back panel with a polychrome enamelled scene of a courting couple draped with with garlands of flowers standing before a statue of Cupid. Hinged cuvette decorated with vivid translucent enamel fruits and flowers on a turquoise ground. D. White enamel with Roman numerals,minute and seconds marks. Blued-steel 'Scoties' hands. M. GiIt brass, lepine caliber with large going barrel, cylinder escapement with plain balance and flat spring. Repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm.
