Jequier à Fleurier, Swiss, circa 1800. Extremely rare and fine 18 ct. gold, "cheeping" cuckoo repeating automaton watch.
C. Three body Empire, milled band, polished back. Hinged gilt-metal cuvette. D. Small eccentric, with Breguet numerals. Gold "beetle and poker" hands. Dial -plate enamelled with a Palladian landscape executed in stipple-point technique. Applied vari-coloured gilt cherub jacks, one clashing cymbals to mark the quarter hours, a "flying" bird "cheeping" the hours. M. GiIt brass full plate with fixed barrel, cylinder escapement, engraved cock, plain balance and flat balance spring. Pump wound repeating train, with a double note played through two pipes for the hours, the quarter marked by a single blow on a wire gong mounted beneath the dial and passing between the plates. Signed on the cuvette. In very good condition. Diam. 64 mm.
