Outer: two-body, scalloped edges, entirely champlevé enamelled with an azure band with leaf decoration and red translucent enamel, the inner edge with bands of azure and red enamel over flinqué engraving. Inner: back with translucent scarlet enamel over elaborate sunburst engine-turning and a stylised floral motif in the centre, band in enamelled flower-decorated circles against azure opaque enamel alternating with a translucent red leaf pattern over engraving, pendant and bow similarly decorted, gilt dust cap. D. Gold, solid, Turkish numerals on matte ring, outer minute divisions, engine-turned center. Blued-steel 'lozenge' hands. M. 53 mm o, gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fixed barrel, ruby cylinder escapement, brass escape wheel, overbanking pin in the rim of the balance, plain gilt brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, bimetallic compensation curb, escapement jewelled and capped, striking and repeating from a fixed barrel on two gongs, activated by pressng a pushbutton in the pendant, bolt at 5 o'clock to switch from grande to petite sonnerie, another to switch from quarter to quarter and hour repeating.Signed on dial and movement.Diam. 67 mm. Notes

Louis RECORDON (1756-1826).Eminent maker born in Ste. Croix (Switzerland). He served his apprenticeship in Geneva, then in 1778 settled in London, where he succeeded Emery in Cockspur Street. He went into partnership with Charles Dupont of Geneva, and together they specialised in watches and clocks for the Chinese Market.
