The SwingUnsigned, German, circa 1810.Fine and rare 18 ct. gold watch with an automaton.
C. Three-body, 'bassine et filets', engine-turned back, reeded band. D. Eccentric, set into the lower part of a silver guilloché and flower engraved plate, white enamel with radial Arabic numerals, minute dot divisions with five-minute Arabic numerals, the top with a semi-circular aperture for the automaton scene, which is entirely painted on ivory. The girl on the swing is linked to the balance, and moves to and fro between two boys. Gold Breguet hands. M. 47 mm o, hinged, gilt brass full plateentirely engraved in asymmetrical scrolls with a lion's head at the top flanked by two eagles, circular pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental style two-footed pierced and engraved cock placed in the centre ofthe movement.The automaton is driven by an additional pinion added to the going train.Diam. 54 mm.
