The Holy Virgin.Enamel painting in the manner of Jean André, Geneva, circa 1740, movement unsigned, probably German, circa 1775.Very fine and rare, 35-hour going, 18 ct. gold and enamel watch with skeletonised movement and special escapement.

C. Two-body, 'Louis XV', the centre back medallion painted on enamel with the Virgin Mary Annunciate,the bezels with floral and foliate pattern on white enamel ground with engine-turned borders.D. White enamel, Roman chapters, outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic numerals. Gold 'Louis XV' hands. M. 36.8 mm o, blued-steel pillar plate with applied silver mask pierced with flowers, three turned steel pillars for the two-level bridge, going barrel, the train set in a steel cage on the lower level for the wheel train, cylinder escapement with unusual form of lifting teeth on the escape wheel, plain steel three-arm balance, blued-steel short spring, on the upper level three-armed polised steel cock secured by pins.Diam. 48 mm.
