Owen Robinson and Charles Fredman, Napoli, circa 1715.Very fine and rare, astronomical, gold watch with manual perpetual calendar, phases of the moon and regulator-type dial.
C. Two-body, 'oignon' type, box-hinged, polished, engraved on the back 'Manuel Godoy Principe De La Paz', a slide in the edge opens a winding shutter. D. Matted gilt brass plate, entirely engraved. The three applied silver subsidiary dials show: on the right, the date with a gilt arrow mounted on a blued-steel revolving disc; on the left, the age of the moon in the same way, and the phases of the moon inset in the disc; below, are the hours. Aperture below the pendant for the day and its astroloical sign, at four o'clock the month and the corresponding Zodiac sign, and at eight o'clock the four parts of the day. Blued-steel 'beetle' hand and central minute hand with 'heart' tip. M. 40mm o, gilt brass full plate, square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, blued-steel balance spring, single-footed gilt brass cock, pierced and engraved with symmetrical inhabited foliage, worm and wheel set-up, rack and pinion regulator with silver plate.Signed on the movement.Diam. 55 mm.
