Unsigned, Japanese, circa 1850.Fine and rare lacquered shitan wood, single-hand inro watch, accompanied by an ivory netsuke and a brass ojime.
C. Rectangular and curved, with flowers and leaves painted in gold, the centre of the flowers on the back applied with mother-of-pearl, winding aperture in the back. D. Brass, outer ring divided into 100, the inner into 12, twelve movable brass hour plates numbered in Japanese characters from the top: 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 which is the equivalent of the European 24 hours. Blued-steel single hand. M. Rectangular, 41 x 55 mm, brass full plate, four cylindrical pillars, fusee and chainfive-wheel train, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, blued-steel balance spring, two feet flat pierced cock.Dim. 75 x 52 mm.
