The Neapolitan MandolinUnsigned, Austrian, mid-19th century.Amusing and large, 18 ct. gold and enamel form watch with concealed dial, designed as a Neapolitan mandolin.

Two-body, the sound-board in white enamel, the translucent red enamelled sound-hole with gold foliage, raised gold wreath border, the back of the sound-chest with alternating ogival translucent red enamel segments over flinqué ground and gold segments with chased foliage, separated by white enamel ribs, stem with horizontal red enamel straps divided by gold ribs, gold suspension chain. D. White enamel, Breguet numerals. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 28 mm o, hinged, gilt brass full plate, cylndrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, blued-steel balance spring, continental cock, rack and pinion regulator with a silver plate.Dim. 80 x 35 mm.
