Unsigned, probably Flemish, circa 1610.Very fine and rare gilt metal single-hand two-train clock watch.
C. Two-body, oval, domed, plain back, band pierced in a baluster pattern for sound, front cover with small round glazed bezel, small finial at the bottom, short turned pendant, loose ring. D. Hinged, gilt metal, applied silver ring with radial Roman chapters, half-hour divisions, small opening at 8 o'clock for setting the striking, later gilt brass centre engraved with a coat-of-arms. Solid steel 'tulip' hand. M. Oval, 41 x 48 mm., gilt brass full plate, turned baluster pillars, fusee and gut lie, short four-wheel train, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued-steel balance spring, pinned gilt metal cock pierced with symmetrical foliage, striking from a fixed plain gilded barrel, five-wheel train, blued-steel count wheel on the back plate, striking on an oval bell secured to the back.Dim. 62 x 52 mm.
