Pigeon A Clermont, France, circa 1625.Very fine and very rare silver and gilt metal oval, single-hand, three-train, astronomical clock watch with phases of the moon, alarm and perpetual manual calendar.
C. Two-body, 'fermée' type, oval, polished silver cover and back, the inside of the cover engraved with a branch of blossoms, gilt metal band pierced and engraved with floral decoration, small finial at the bottom, tulip-shaped gilt pendant, loose ring. D. Silver, oval, hinged, eccentric, gilt metal applied radial Roman hour chapter ring with half hour divisions in the lower part, inner silver rotating alarm disc with Arabic numerals and arrow indicating the time, small knob for setting the timebelow 12 o'clock aperture for days of the week (in French), at the top, gilt brass ring for the day of the month, on the left, aperture for phases and age of the moon, on the right, aperture for the month and its duration, the entire plate finely engraved with allegories of love with Venus and Cupid. Blued-steel hands. M. Oval, 44 x 40 mm, gilt brass full plate, turned baluster pillars, fusee and gut line, short four-wheel train with six-leaf pinions, verge escapement, two-arm circular foliot,mall pinned cock pierced and engraved with asymmetrical floral pattern, striking from a fixed barrel decorated with pierced and engraved floral pattern, five-wheel train, steel count wheel set on the back plate under a pierced and engraved cock, alarm driven from a fixed and engraved barrel striking on the same bell, ratchet wheel and click set-up.Signed on the back plate.Dim. 85 x 52 mm.
