Bovet, Fleurier, No. 625, circa 1840.Fine and rare 18 ct. gold and enamel, pearl-set centre seconds watch with special escapement, made for the Chinese market.
C. Two-body, 'Empire', spring-loaded back cover very finely painted with a pair of doves in a nest of roses, tulips, forget-me-nots, pansies and marigolds against a pale green enamel ground, the band in pale green enamel, the bezels, pendant and bow set with half pearls, spring-loaded glazed cuvette. D. White enamel, Roman chapters, outer minute divisions and fifth second divisions. Blued-steel 'spade' hands. M. 47.5 mm o, all of polished steel, 'Chinese' calibre, 11 jewels, free-standing barrelruby duplex escapement, uncut bimetallic balance with three wedge-shaped weights, all visible wheels jewelled.Signed on the movement, back cover stamped inside with Geneva mark and 'B' between two dots at the top and bottom.Diam. 58 mm.
