An Allegory of Music and LoveUnsigned, Swiss, No. 334, circa 1820.Very fine, 18 ct. gold and enamel two-train hour-striking musical watch with quarter repeating.
C. Four-body, the back engraved with musical instruments surrounded by an engine-turned frame, fluted band, hinged, spring-loaded gilt brass hinged cuvette. D. Gold, white enamel cartouches with Breguet numerals, outer blue enamel minute ring with white divisions, the centre painted on enamel with an allegory of Music and Love. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 52 mm o, gilt brass full plate, cylinder escapement, gold three-arm balance, flat balance spring, music by a pinned revolving disc with pinson both sides, playing on 24 tuned teeth arranged in a fan shape, music on demand by slide at 1 o'clock, the repeating work on the back plate, striking on two gongs by depressing the pendant.Diam. 58 mm.
