EratoUnsigned, Swiss, circa 1820.Very fine 18 ct. gold and enamel two-train hour-striking musical watch with quarter repeating.
C. Four-body, back engine-turned in 'grains d'orge' pattern, reeded band, hinged, spring-loaded gilt brass cuvette. D. Gold, white enamel cartouches with Breguet numerals, outer white enamel minute ring with black divisions, the central painted enamel scene depicting Erato, the Muse of lyric and love poetry, a putto at her feet. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. 48 mm o, gilt brass full plate, cylinder escapement, gold three-arm balance, flat balance spring, music by a pinned revolving disc with pinon both sides, playing on 26 tuned teeth arranged in a fan shape, music on demand by slide at 1 o'clock, the repeating work on the back plate, striking on two gongs by depressing the pendant.Diam. 56 mm.
