Bearing a signature in Islamic characters, circa 1660.Rare and fine gilt metal astronomical single-hand oval pendant watch with calendar and phases of the moon.
C. Two-body, domed back with winding aperture, decorated with foliage in the Islamic style, matching hinged front cover, band similarly decorated with semicircular pattern ribbons at the edges, small round pendant, loose ring. D. Oval, gilt brass mask entirely engraved with arabesques, below applied silver hour ring with Islamic numerals, above applied silver ring with age of the moon, on the sides two apertures for days of the week and months. Blued-steel 'fleur de lis' hands. M. 42 x 49 mm, ovl, gilt brass full plate, covered by a silver plate entirely decorated with arabesques, three rectangular pierced pillars, fusee and gut-line for the going train, verge escapement, two-arm steel foliot, gilt cock pierced and engraved with symmetrical foliage secured on the small foot by a screw, ratchet wheel and click set-up set-up under the barrel, with calibration on the back plate by a pointer.Signed on the movement in Islamic characters.Dim. 49 x 60 mm.
